In this trick, you’ll make it seem like you’re switching two cards, but the audience will always end up with the same card.

Materials Needed:

  1. A standard deck of playing cards.

Instructions:

  1. Begin by selecting two cards from the deck. For this trick, let’s say you choose the two black Queens (Queen of Spades and Queen of Clubs). Remove them from the deck and set them aside.
  2. Place one of the Queens face-up on the table, and keep the other Queen hidden in your hand.
  3. Shuffle the remaining deck to mix the cards thoroughly.
  4. Address your audience and explain that you have one Queen on the table and one in your hand. Your goal is to make them switch places magically.
  5. Hold the Queen in your hand face down, so the audience cannot see it.
  6. Take the Queen on the table, flip it face down, and mix it with a few other cards on the table. Then, fan the cards out slightly so that the audience can see the Queen among the cards.
  7. Begin the switch. Place the Queen from your hand on top of the fan of cards, covering the Queen on the table.
  8. Say a magical word or make a magical gesture to indicate that you’ve performed the switch.
  9. Now, ask your audience which card they think is the Queen. They will likely point to one of the cards in the fan.
  10. Dramatically reveal the card they selected by flipping it over. It should be the Queen that was originally on the table.
  11. Lift the Queen from the table and show that it has magically switched places with the Queen in your hand.
  12. Accept the applause of your amazed audience!

This card trick relies on a simple switch and misdirection. By emphasising the switching process and engaging your audience, you can create a fun and baffling illusion. Practice your presentation for smooth execution.
